RED OAK — Mansfield Summit had all of the answers Friday night against Red Oak at Billy Goodloe Stadium.

The Jaguars, led by quarterback Brysen McKinney, ran away with a 42-3 win in the fifth District 10-5A game of the season. Summit improved to 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in 10-5A play, while Red Oak fell to 2-4 and remains winless against district opponents.

Though the Jaguars held just a one-possession lead after the first quarter, the game was never in question, as the Red Oak offense remained anemic throughout the first half. The Hawks entered the locker room with negative four yards of total offense and two first downs.

Summit ball carriers, led by Mckinney, ran 45 times for 298 yards on the way to 447 yards of total offense on the evening. In comparison, Red Oak finished with 101 total yards of offense with 56 yards coming through the air and 45 on the ground.

Hawk quarterback Carson Forbes completed 5-of-his-24 pass attempts for 56 yards. He threw one interception. Jacob Proche hauled in four of the Forbes completion for 59 yards, while the other went to CJ Palmer for negative three yards after the Jaguars bottled up the running back in the flats.

Kortion Erskine led all Hawk ball carriers with 41 yards on four carries, while Dantrail Richardson carried the football eight times for 20 yards.

For Summit, McKinney completed two first-half touchdown passes to Richard Clark (24 yards) and Oswald Moobe (19 yards). He also ran for a pair of scores from 28 and 8 yards out.

McKinney added a third touchdown pass to cap the Jaguar scoring when he found Jorion Curry for a 56-yard pitch and catch with 1:23 to play in the third quarter. Bryce Nyumah added a 34-yard touchdown run on the previous Summit possession.

Red Oak finally got on the scoreboard with 9:29 to play in the fourth quarter when Nicholas Alvarado drilled a 37-yard field goal.

McKinney finished 5-of-16 passing for 150 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran the football nine times for 85 yards, while Richard Clark added 13 carries for 80 yards and Nyumah finished with 79 yards on 10 carries. Cameron Wilson also rushed 12 times for 52 yards.


Mansfield Summit will host Midlothian (L 52-7 Lake Ridge), while Red Oak has a road test against Lancaster (L 30-28 Timberview).

Kickoff for both games is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
