ENNIS — The state-ranked No. 7 Ennis Lion tennis team is ready to rumble in a playoff rematch against A&M Consolidated after a pair of wins this week.

Rest assured, the Lions would like nothing better than to defeat the team that kept them from the state tournament last year.

Last week, the 17-5A district champion Ennis Lions played Waco High at the Waco Regional Tennis Center in Waco on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The Lions breezed-by with a perfect 10-0 shellacking of the Waco High Lions for the bi-district championship.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, Ennis traveled to Madisonville where they took on the Bridgeland Bears. Success was theirs again, as they blanked this Harris County team 10-0 for the area championship.

Ennis squares off with A&M Consolidated at the tennis courts on the Baylor University campus. If the Lions pull out the victory, they will be just two wins from the UIL state championships.
