COLUMBIA, South Carolina — U.S. Army Soldier PVT Dustin L. McClain, of Waxahachie, graduated from Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina with the 2-13th Infantry Regiment on Aug. 24.
PVT McClain completed Basic Combat Training (BCT) and was transformed from a civilian into a soldier. Over the course of ten weeks, he learned basic tactical and survival skills along with how to shoot, rappel, and march. He also learned the basics of Army life and military customs, including the Seven Core Army Values.
After the completion of Basic Combat Training, he is ready now on to the next step. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) is where he will learn the skills to perform his career in the Army.
McClain is the son of Lena McClain and Monty McGonagill, brother of Keelan and grandson of Joe McClain.
He is a 2017 graduate of Waxahachie High School.
