WAXAHACHIE — Senior outside hitter Jessica Sodich has been named the National Attacker of the Week by the National Christian College Athletic Association for her performances against Mid-America Christian University and University Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
SAGU went 2-0 against their Sooner Athletic Conference opponents last weekend. Sodich is a senior from Arlington.
Coach Hank Moore was very pleased with his senior’s play this weekend and knows how hard she works to accomplish her feats. Coach Moore explained, “Jessica Sodich is playing at an incredibly high level right now. If you look at her numbers offensively, they are very strong and he is having a great senior year. We are so proud of how she has juggled family, work, school, and volleyball all while performing at one of the highest levels I have seen as the coach here at SAGU. She is playing like an All American.”
Over the past weekend, Sodich had 34 kills on 52 swings. She had only three hitting errors for a .560 hitting percentage. Currently, Sodich is ranked No. 2 in the SAC in kills and No. 4 in the NAIA for kills.
“It is such an honor receiving NCCAA player of the week. I wouldn’t be able to receive something like this without my amazing teammates," said Sodich. "Each and every one of us are working so hard to get to the top and to stay there. This is the strongest, most supportive team I have ever been a part of. God is doing amazing things with our team and I am so thankful I get to be a part of it."
SAGU has a two-game homestand this weekend against John Brown University and Bacone. They will play Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Sheaffer Center on the SAGU campus.
