RED OAK – A Dallas resident was arrested in connection with the robbery of the Prosperity Bank on Wednesday morning. The Dallas FBI Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Stevie Elbert Jones, 54, in conjunction with the investigation initiated by the Red Oak Police Department and multiple other probes.
“Jones was arrested without incident in Fort Worth on an outstanding parole revocation warrant and is believed to be a suspect in multiple robberies throughout North Texas. Jones was transported to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for the warrant,” Red Oak Police Department PIO Lt. Marc Schroeder said. “Based on the arrest of Jones and the subsequent interview, the Red Oak Police Department has closed its investigation and any charges will be filed at the Federal level by the FBI.”
Red Oak Police officers responded to a robbery call at 1:13 p.m. at Prosperity Bank on Tuesday located in the 500 block of N. Interstate Highway 35E Service Road.
“The on-duty dispatcher advised that the reporting person informed them that a black male subject had walked into the Prosperity Bank, produced a note and proceeded to commit the robbery,” Schroeder previously stated.
Schroeder said the suspect left in a silver Chevy Silverado toward northbound Interstate 35.
According to online records from the Dallas County Jail, Jones was booked into the jail at 10:48 a.m. on Wednesday and is being held for a parole violation. He remained in custody in the jail as of 9:55 a.m. on Thursday.
