WAXAHACHIE – Brown Street Church of Christ recently announced a plan to host a "Kids in Divorce" program. The sessions are free services open to families and children throughout Waxahachie and the surrounding communities.
The Kids in Divorce support network is designed to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of families with children between the ages of 5-18. Small groups will be led by two trained facilitators at an age-appropriate level for each child and peers of similar ages. While parents are not required to participate, there is a separate support group for divorcees who choose to attend.
Topics include Changes, Feelings, Anger, Fears, Rejection, Resentment, Guilt, Forgiveness, Trust, Holidays, and many others.
Each session is held from 7-8 p.m. on Monday evenings at the Brown Street Church of Christ, located at 2471 Brown Street in Waxahachie. Meetings begin Sept. 18 and conclude on Nov. 13.
Kids in Divorce is not a counseling program; all facilitators have been trained and screened to follow the unique curriculum that is designed to help children develop healthy coping skills needed during divorce.
Participants are asked to register prior to the Open House on Sept. 18 if possible. For more information or to register for this free service, visit www.KidsinDivorce.net or contact Carole Cates at 972-754-9517.
