Introduction to Microsoft Office Programs

This class will provide you with an overview of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. Included will be a review of the basic layout, navigation, and functions common to all office programs. We will review the various version of Microsoft Office, the purpose of each program and which programs are included in each version. You will create a basic Word document using Microsoft Word, a basic spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel, and a basic slide presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint.

Introduction to QuickBooks

An introductory course of the QuickBooks accounting software, including setting up a new company and chart of account; recording transactions with customers, vendors, and employees. Photography 101

Photography 101 is a beginning course in which students will be introduced to the basic operation of their SLR type camera. The course explains photography basics such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, as well as methods for taking creative control of your photographs. This course is geared toward those with DSLR type cameras with user-adjustable aperture, ISO and shutter speed.

Heartsaver CPR

Heartsaver CPR/AED is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking of an adult, child, and infant. Upon successful completion, the participant would be issued an American Heart Association, Heartsaver CPR/AED card.

Country Two Step Dance

QiGong

This class is beneficial for all fitness levels. Tai Chi is one of the oldest forms of group exercise. It is a link of unchanging movements that have passed through the centuries of tradition. Qi Gong is a variation of Tai Chi that focuses on stability and balance. Both increase flexibility, improve strength, and cardiovascular fitness in a gentle way. Students who have attended this class previously can perfect what they have already learned. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow movement and athletic shoes.

Beginning Tennis- Adults

This class is designed for newcomers to tennis or for people that have not played in a long time and need a refresher in skills. Basic Dog Obedience

Dog owners will learn basic commands which will enhance the pet-owner bond, using positive reinforcement. This course will also cover behavioral problems. Owners will need to bring their pet with a standard buckle collar and 4’-6’ leash. Please bring vaccination certificates for pets as well as training treats. Bring your pet for the first class so the training can begin! Limit 10 students.

Landscape Design in Ellis County

Learn the secrets to successful landscaping in Ellis County. Subjects covered will be soil climate/temperature, rainfall, native and adapted plants, trees, shrubs, perennials, etc. The class includes a PowerPoint presentation with photos and examples of designs and landscapes in Waxahachie and Midlothian. The class is taught by the "Landscape Director" for the state of Texas on the board of TNLA (Texas Nursery and Landscape Association) and Ellis County Master Gardener.

Container Gardening

For those who only have a small space or patio, container gardening is the way to raise flowers or vegetables. A handout will be provided. Bricks4Kidz, Ages 6-12

Calling all LEGO® Master Builders! So many things we use each day are someone’s invention. Introduce your child to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions, and patents. They will construct different familiar objects each week, such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers, and a conveyor belt, using LEGO® bricks. Each model is motorized for maximum movement and fascination! After building the model, creativity is encouraged by modifying and customizing it. At the end of class (time-permitting), they can build their own creations at our creative-build station!

Beginner’s Guitar

Learn the fundamentals of the guitar including playing cords and reading music. Watercolor for Fun!
