FERRIS — Police are searching for two suspects that held up the EZ Mart convenience store in Ferris during the early morning hours of Aug. 8. The armed robbery took place at about 1:40 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Central St. in Ferris.

“The male comes in first and right away he is sticking the gun in the clerks face. Then the female comes in and she has the knife. It is a large kitchen-type knife,” Ferris Police Chief Eddie Salazar said. “They are both making demands and the clerk is compliant and giving the money to them. They also said, ‘give us some of those cigars too.' The clerk gave them a lot of cigars that they were asking for.”

Salazar stated, after the robbery, the two exited the store heading towards Baker Street with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise. The clerk reported no injuries.

Police describe the male suspect as about 5-foot-6 with a slender build. At the time of the offense, he was wearing a black Oakland Raiders toboggan-style hat. The female suspect is either white or Hispanic and is about 5-foot-4 and heavyset. During the crime, she was wearing blue jeans, a hoodie jacket and a bandana over her face.

“We were able to lift some prints from the counter. One of them actually laid down and picked up the camera and moved it so it was not shining on her,” Salazar explained. “We were able to lift some good prints off of that, which we were able to send off to see if we can identify who that person is.”

Salazar added the prints were sent off to a lab to have them enhanced digitally so that when an arrest is made a comparison can be made.
