The Waxahachie City Council will hold a specially called meeting on Friday to consider the installation of an interim city manager. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in council chambers at city hall.

In a specially called meeting on Aug. 25 all four members present, Mayor Kevin Strength, Mayor Pro Tem Mark Singleton, councilmembers Chuck Beatty and Mary Lou Shipley voted to approve a separation agreement with former city manager Paul Stevens.

Council Member David Hill was not present at the meeting and was out of the country. Stevens joined the city in 1999, first as assistant city manager and then as city manager in 2007.

Before convening into executive session, the public can address the council on any issue. Issues that can be brought to the council do not have to be listed on the agenda. Following public comments, the council will enter into executive session to meet with Waxahachie City Attorney Robert Brown to seek legal advice on personnel matters.

The council will then reconvene into open session and take any necessary action.

City Hall is located at 401 S. Rogers St. in downtown Waxahachie.
