WAXAHACHIE — You’ve probably heard them before.
They often contain some element of truth and sound like something you might find somewhere in the Bible. Maybe you have even said them – simple phrases that sound Christian.
During a five-week period at Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie, the Rev. Matt Curry, pastor, will examine five such statements during his adult Bible class on Wednesday nights and a corresponding Sunday sermon series.
The series is called, “Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say,” based on the 2016 book by Adam Hamilton.
You are invited to join the conversation as we consider the words we use and the conclusions they may cause us to make about the nature of God.
The Wednesday Night Fellowship class begins at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 6, and the first Sunday of the five-part series follows during the 11 a.m. worship service on Sept. 10. All dates are below. You are welcome to read the book along with the class and to purchase a book in advance through the church office for $10. You may reserve a copy by calling the church office or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
