ARLINGTON — Altered format or not, the Red Oak Lady Hawk volleyball team made the most of its opportunities to keep momentum rolling in their favor over the weekend. Red Oak won all four matches in a showcase-formatted tournament Friday and Saturday in Arlington.

The Lady Hawks improved to 19-3 on the season with the wins and will turn their focus on the three remaining pre-district matches (North Crowley Aug. 29, Trimble Tech Sept. 1, Lewisville Sept. 5). Red Oak moves into District 10-5A action Sept. 8 on the road against Midlothian.

During the Arlington Tournament, Red Oak cruised into the showcase championship with 3-0 sweeps of North Crowley (25-15, 25-14, 26-24), Seguin (25, 25-7, 25-9) and L.D. Bell (25-15, 25-16, 25-19).

In the championship match, Red Oak dropped the first set against Lamar, 23-25 before taking the next three sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18.

Katie Hess was named the 2017 Arlington Invitational Showcase MVP and Kylie Bryan was placed on the all-tournament team. 

The Lady Hawks return home for a Tuesday match, Aug. 29 against North Crowley. The first serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
