Longtime Waxahachie resident Jean McBryde Cook passed away August 1, 2017. She was born May 21st, 1925 in Palmyra, AR. Jean was seventh of nine children and graduated Glendale High School, AR in 1943. She immediately went to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal as WWII had just been declared. She married Earl Cook Jr. on December 7th, 1945 in Waxahachie, TX. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Jean is survived by her daughter Cynthia Cook Alexander of Dallas, TX, and son Larry Cook of Kansas City, MO and his wife, Kathy. Also survived is her sister Nell Bell of Tyler, TX. Her grandchildren Blake Alexander of Austin, TX and his children Hannah and Sophia; Tiffany and Mark Westerman of Dallas, TX and their children Alex and Thomas Westerman; and Ryan and Kelly Alexander of Allen Park, MI and their children Casey and Jema.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Waxahachie on August 12th at 11:00 am. Jean was a member of FBC since 1951 where she taught Sunday school for 20+ years. She also volunteered for Baylor Hospital Auxiliary for 10+ years.
