RED OAK — Fort Worth Police found a 25-year-old Red Oak man safe and sound over the weekend after he was reported missing to Waxahachie Police early last week.
Andrew Perez was first reported missing by his mother on Tuesday, July 18. He was located by Fort Worth PD Friday, July 21.
On Monday, the family of Andrew Perez spoke with the Daily Light and thanked those who shared his photo and information on social media. The family also asked the public to respect their privacy at this time.
"We are grateful for the work of the Waxahachie Police Department, and especially detective Albert Martinez, in locating Andrew," the statement reads.
Waxahachie Police Lt. Todd Woodruff previously told the Daily Light that detectives determined Perez visited Gold's Gym, located in the 500 block of N. U.S. Highway 77 in Waxahachie, around noon on June 30. After leaving the gym, police then determined that Perez went to the Waxahachie Walmart at approximately 4:20 p.m.
“We reviewed the surveillance from the Walmart parking lot on June 30. That was the last location that we could determine where he was at prior to his disappearing,” Woodruff said. “Our detective was able to see him in the surveillance video talking to some individuals that routinely go to business parking lots. You will see them selling bread sometimes. They are with a church group out of Fort Worth.”
Woodruff stated one of the officers at the police department is familiar with the group and told them who to contact. Detective Albert Martinez spoke with the church group and verified Perez was with them.
“We had the Forth Worth Police Department personally go out and make contact with him to verify that he is ok. They verified that he is safe,” Woodruff stated. “The mother was concerned since she had not heard from him since June 30. She was quite relieved that he was located.”
