GLENN HEIGHTS — Glenn Heights City Councilman Sidney Davis was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a child. The Texas Rangers took Davis into custody on Thursday, July 13.
“At the request of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, the Texas Rangers were asked to investigate a sexual assault of a child. As a result of the investigation Sidney Davis of Glenn Heights was arrested for sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child,” Texas Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Sara Warren said. “ Mr. Davis was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Thursday, July 13 without incident.”
Dallas County Sheriff’s PIO Melinda Urbina said Davis was booked into the jail at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday. He was released later that day at 10:28 p.m. on bonds totaling $5,000.
“The City of Glenn Heights has been made aware of a law enforcement investigation and subsequent arrest involving a city council member. The investigation was conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety,” a statement issued by the City of Glenn Heights reads. “At this time, please direct all inquiries regarding this investigation to the Texas DPS public information officer.”
The Daily Light called and left messages with the Glenn Heights City Manager’s Office, but calls went unreturned.
The City of Glenn Heights website states that it is made up of six council members and a mayor. The city council members run for office by place and are elected from the city at-large for a term of three years. Davis currently serves as a board member in place one.
The case remains under investigation at this time by the Texas Rangers.
