WAXAHACHIE — The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce will soon be under new leadership for the second time in 18 months.
Pete Havel and the chamber parted way Thursday, July 13, according to a press release. Havel was hired as the CEO and president of the chamber in January 2016 following the departure of Debra Wakeland. Wakeland, who served in the same capacity as Havel for 15 years and 32 years in Waxahachie, resigned in January 2016 to accept a role for the City of Weatherford.
Havel previously worked for the North Texas Tollway Authority and South Central Regions for the United States Chamber of Commerce, according to a previous Daily Light report.
In the announcement by the chamber, the executive board expressed "gratitude" to Havel and wishes him "well in his future endeavors."
"The Chamber will immediately begin an executive search for a new President and CEO," the release adds. "Current staff will assume Mr. Havel’s duties. The Chamber will continue to execute on its previously announced strategic initiatives."
