WASHINGTON — Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) was recently recognized with the 2017 United States Energy Award by the United States Energy Association. Congressman Barton received the award in recognition of his outstanding efforts to advance global energy initiatives and his support of the United States energy industry.

“I am honored to receive this award, and truly humbled to see my name listed among this award's past recipients,” Barton said. “Throughout my career, I have worked to strengthen the energy sector and provide Americans with affordable and reliable sources of energy. Today we are blessed to lead the world in energy production – a position we will not soon lose.”

The U.S. Energy Award has been presented annually since 1989. Barton is the first member of the House of Representatives to receive the award. The award was given last year to current Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
