AUSTIN — Six Red Oak High School students recently made the trek down Interstate-35 to the University of Texas campus for the UIL Academic State Meet and represented the Hawks admirably.

Among those, was Gaby Sokora and Cody Martin, who finished ninth and 13th in the Computer Applications and Science events, respectively.

The other four ROHS students to compete in the state meet were Nadia Wakil, Samantha Wooley, Ethan Nichols, and Benjamin Stanfill of the Literary Criticism team that had one of its best showings of the year.

“I am so proud of all our UIL competitors," stated Ginger McClure, ROHS UIL sponsor. "We had five teams and 15 individuals place at the district meet, four teams and 13 individuals qualified for the regional meet, and one team and two individuals qualified for state. Each event starts with thousands of competitors, and to place 9th (Gaby Sokora, Computer Applications), and 13th (Cody Martin, Science) is amazing. They represented Red Oak well.”
