WAXAHACHIE — Southwestern Assemblies of God University is adding a scholarship for new Music Performance and Worship Arts majors.
New on-campus undergraduate students who choose Music Performance or Worship Arts as their major will receive $1,000 per year, or $500 per semester. This scholarship is renewable, allowing students to save up to $4,000 on a 4-year degree.
Qualification is simple. New students who intend to earn their Music Performance or Worship Arts degree on-campus, meet the academic requirements and declare either of these degrees as their major when they enroll, receive the scholarship. The scholarship is renewed annually if the student remains a Music Performance or Worships Arts major in good academic standing.
“I believe the new scholarships will attract young artists who are wanting to grow musically and spiritually, and use their gifts for the Kingdom," said Dr. Tyrone Block, Department Chair for the Music Department. "I appreciate SAGU for embracing this initiative to seek out and assist these talented music students.”
The new $4,000 scholarship is in addition to SAGU's already competitive academic scholarship program and will give more students the opportunity to study under SAGU's highly qualified faculty.
Students in SAGU's Music Performance or Worship Arts degrees study in the new, state-of-the-art, 80,000 square feet Hagee Communication Center featuring Steinway pianos, 600 seat performance hall, recording studio, sound proof practice rooms as well as many other features tailored for music majors.
"We are excited to introduce this new scholarship program for our Music majors and give more and more students the opportunity to discover SAGU's high-quality music program,” Vice President for Enrollment Eddie Davis added.
