To the Editor,

Good Market news. Yes, the stock market is on an upswing, but there is another market that we all can be part of, that is looking good in your town, the Farmers Market. We have several local ones in Waxahachie, Midlothian, and Ennis too. These venues offer more than just fresh edibles and plants and specialty products. The networking experience adds to the items available. Vendors collaborate on their successes and experiments. Customers seek freshness in the locally grown food and fresh aromas that only a farmer's market can offer. Sharing recipes benefits both consumer and seller, like the cauliflower "rice" that can be Au gratin, a pizza dough, or added to mashed potatoes to disguise for picky kids and adults. These Sat Am venues bring out the locals to become reacquainted. Each locale has its own personality it seems. You can find gardening experts, freshly cooked BBQ, burgers and hot dogs, the sounds of music, mobile agricultural displays, creativity in goods and services and the kids have scheduled activities to learn. Soon Ennis water park will be completed by their market for those hot summer days, where shade is minimal, more available at the other locales. You can visit a restored log cabin in Midlothian for visitors to learn about life 100 + yrs. ago. And of course, the Red Caboose nearby the Waxahachie market where you can imagine riding on in past train nostalgia.

So, if you haven't already, follow your nose and taste buds to see and touch what we are fortunate to have close by in Ellis County.
