WAXAHACHIE — A late night alert from a resident allowed Waxahachie Police Department to safely return a child safely to the proper guardian on Wednesday night.
“A caller on Wilmington Street called the police department at about 9 p.m. and reported she was out with the child and she didn’t know where the child lived,” Waxahachie Police Lt. Todd Woodruff said. “Officers located the child’s guardian at a residence on Farley Street. It was determined that the 4-year-old child likely climbed out of a bedroom window there. A bedroom window was found open and the screen had been pushed out.”
Woodruff said the child was returned to the guardian. However, officers have referred the matter to Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
