WAXAHACHIE — An Ellis County Grand Jury issued 38 indictments on Wednesday, which included Dallas residents Nicholas Bruce, 19, and Bryant Brocks, 18, and Duncanville resident Fredo Porter, 18, on the charges of aggravated robbery.

Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested the three with the on Dec. 7, 2016.

According to the indictments, Porter, Bruce, and Brocks allegedly threaten a victim of theft, Hal Reneau, by putting him in fear of imminent bodily injury or death. The defendants allegedly exhibited a deadly weapon, later identified as a CO2 gun.

According to JoAnn Livingston, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, at about 2:23 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2016, deputies responded to an aggravated robbery — a home invasion — in the 3300 block of Shady Creek Circle in Red Oak.

“Two of the suspects carried pistols and confronted one of the residents in his bedroom, demanding his money and cell phone. The second resident grabbed one of the suspects and threw him on the floor in the kitchen, where they began fighting,” Livingston stated in a press release. “While fighting with the suspect, the second resident saw the other two suspects run out of the house. It is at this time the second resident saw a gun and got off of the suspect he was fighting to take cover. The third suspect then also ran out of the house.”

Livingston said residents called 9-1-1 and were able to provide dispatchers with one of the suspects’ names and a description of their vehicle. Red Oak Police officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at northbound Interstate Highway 35E and Bear Creek Road. The three male occupants of the vehicle were detained pending an investigation.

Ellis County Criminal Investigations was called to the scene and determined the three arrested men were the same three who had committed the home invasion. All three individuals were then taken into custody and transported to Wayne McCollum Detention Center for arraignment on aggravated robbery.

According to online records from the detention center, Bruce and Porter are no longer listed as inmates. Brocks remained in custody in the detention center as of 11 a.m. Monday, March 6.
