WAXAHACHIE — An Ellis County Grand Jury recently indicted Ennis resident Gary Ray Amburn, 50, on the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault that causes serious bodily injury. Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Amburn on Dec. 4, 2016, with the indictment handed down March 1.
According to the first indictment on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Amburn allegedly caused bodily injury to the victim on Dec. 4, 2016, when he allegedly applied pressure to her neck and throat with his arms or hands. The second indictment, which was for aggravated assault that causes serious bodily injury, stated that Amburn intentionally caused serious bodily injury to a second victim when he allegedly caused injuries to the female by breaking or fracturing her arm with his hand or arm.
Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer JoAnn Livingston said deputies responded to a domestic call in the 4800 block of W. State Highway 34 in Ennis on Dec. 4, 2016.
“Upon arrival, deputies met with two female complainants who said a male relative had assaulted them,” Livingston wrote in a press release. “The male subject, identified as Gary Ray Amburn, of Ennis, was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center.”
According to online records from the detention center, Amburn was booked into the detention center at 3:36 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2016. He currently remains in custody as of 3:30 Monday with bonds totaling $55,000.
