Nicolas Medina Esparza, age 88, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 12, 2017, at 5:30 PM. He was born in Hubbard, Texas on September 10, 1929, to the late Juan and Rafaela Esparza.
Nick, as he was known and called by many, was married to Maria Tovar. Nick was a member of Malachi Ministries of Waxahachie, Texas in his last years.
Nick grew up in Ellis County picking cotton and farming land. In 1958, he attended SAGC for a short period before deciding to become a barber, attending Hicks's Barber College in Dallas. Around 1960, Nick opened the first air-conditioned barber shop on Waco Highway, Southside of Waxahachie. He also owned and operated barber shops in Houston and was forced to retire his last barber shop in Dallas at the age of 79.
Nick loved to sing and was gifted to play many musical instruments by ear. However, he enjoyed the base guitar best and played in various gospel bands throughout his years, singing and playing for the Lord.
In 1989, Nick attended and graduated from Betania Escula Biblica in Dallas.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana and husband, Phillip Downs, Melinda Fitts, Vickie Aves, Michele Rodriquez, Linda and husband, Robert Alvarez and Kathy Esparza Cuellar. His sons, George and wife, Delores Esparza, Oscar Esparza, Nicholas Lynn Esparza of (Dallas) and David Ferrer, Many Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren.
Nick was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Esparza, Jr., a great-grandson Nicholas E. Esparza, Jr., six sisters, two brothers and the mother of four of his daughters, Ester V. Esparza.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
