Steve Jerome “Steve Rod” Rodriguez, age 47, of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017, in Waxahachie. He was born November 25, 1969, in Dallas to Joe Ozna and Olivia (Solis) Rodriguez. Steve was the baby brother to three older protective sisters and was loved dearly by all. He was fixated on mechanics, vehicles and anything he could use his hands for. His passion for machinery lead him to study at Airframe and Powerplant Technical School, which launched him into a long and successful career as certified aircraft mechanic, most recently for Bombardier Learjet. He previously worked for Lone Star Retrieval, AMR Combs, Air Salvage of Dallas, and DISD to name a few. His favorite hobbies were fishing, playing darts, racing cars and motorcycles, joy riding in his Chevy Luv, rebuilding anything that needed it and having a good time cooking on the grill with friends and family. He was a loving husband, a caring brother and a stranger to no one. His friends felt like family, his smile and laugh were infectious, and Steve was just the guy to get any job done. Anyone who met him was a friend for life. With a big open heart, a smile that shined for days and a soul made of gold; his presence will be greatly missed.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Anabel Garza Rodriguez; sisters Aggie, Joann and Rachel; brothers-in-law, Chris and Bill; niece Kimberly Mejia; nephews Keith Mejia, Jordan & Christian Noe; great nephew and godson AJ, Desmond and Darren; great nieces Olivia & Molly Mejia as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe O Rodriguez, Olivia S Rodriguez, and brother in law, Henry Mejia Jr.
