MILFORD — Two people were taken to area hospitals after leading law enforcement officers on a chase through two counties. The incident started with a traffic stop that took place at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday.

“A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to stop a 1993 two-door Toyota sedan, traveling northbound on Interstate Highway 35E near milepost 365 in Hill County, for a traffic violation,” DPS Public Information Officer Sgt. Sara Warren said. "According to the preliminary investigation, as the Trooper attempted to make or made contact with the driver, the suspect left the scene to evade law enforcement.”

Warren said the driver traveled toward Dallas on IH-35E northbound and eventually took Exit 381 at a high rate of speed, then crashed on the northbound frontage road. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle at Farm-to-Market Road 566 near Milford.

The 21-year-old male driver and the 27-year-old male passenger, both of Dallas, were transported to Baylor Scott and White — Waco with life-threatening injuries.

Texas Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Sgt. said in the event of incidents involving serious bodily injuries or fatalities, DPS policy prevents the release names of individuals till next of kin are notified. The incident remained under investigation as of press time.
