PALMER — The Bulldogs trailed for the majority of Wednesday’s home game against the Farmers of Farmersville, but Ryan Fortenberry and company battled back late in the fourth quarter to knot the score at 58.
Unfortunately, Farmersville continued to control the glass and finished on a 9-0 run for a 67-58 road win. The loss dropped Palmer to 4-7 on the season.
JJ Berumen scored all four of his points to help complete the comeback that tied the game in the fourth quarter, but it was Cisneros’ nine points in the third quarter that helped the Bulldogs outscore the Farmers 17-12 during the frame. Cisneros finished with a team-high 16 points.
Robinson and Peyton Sparkman finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Wesley Greenlee added six points, Dillon Villasenor tallied five points, and Jon Archibald chipped in two.
In the junior varsity game, the Bulldogs cruised to a 19-point win, 53-34, behind Isaac Greenlee’s 14 points.
After Palmer had entered the locker room with a five-point lead, Greenlee scored eight of the Bulldogs’ 21 points in the third quarter. His offense helped pace the Bulldogs to a 21-6 advantage in the frame and a comfortable 20-point lead after three-quarters, 48-28.
Jalen Luper and Ben Waddle were the only two Bulldogs to score in all four quarters, with Luper posting 11 points and Waddle seven, respectively. Mason Carvablo matched Waddle with seven points, Walker Greenlee, Carson Cisneros and J. Nava all tallied four points, while Randy Shields rounded out the scoring with two points.
Palmer plays Italy on Thursday, with the varsity tipping off at 2:15 p.m.
