DALLAS — After dropping their first two games of the 77th annual Dallas ISD Holiday Invitational, the (6-10, 0-1) Red Oak Hawks bounced back for a 20-point on Thursday.
Behind 15 points from Donovan Burks and 14 by Craig Smith, the Hawks thumped The Episcopal School of Dallas, 67-47.
In total, nine Hawks contributed on the offensive end. Josh Wansley scored nine points, while Cameron Peay, Frank Williams and Andrew Yuhanna all tallied seven. Mark Freeney added four points and Jonathan Chapa rounded out the scoring with two.
On day one of the three-day tournament, Red Oak first fell to Dallas Carter, 63-41, before being edged by Newington College out of Sydney Australia, 34-31.
Against Carter, Emerson Wallace led the Hawks with 10 points, while Chapa, Yuhanna, Burks and Freeney all scored six points. Keymond Taylor and Peay rounded out the scoring with four and three points, respectively.
Burks scored a team-high six points in game two against the Aussies. Taylor, Yuhanna and Wansley scored five points, Peay and Freeney added four and Williams chipped in two.
Red Oak returns to District 10-5A play on Tuesday, Jan. 3 against Waxahachie with an 8 p.m. tipoff.
