Mark your calendar: The year’s biggest event is just about a month away.
The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce will host its 37th annual Chamber Auction and Dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
“The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce is really excited about this year’s event,” said Debra Wakeland, Chamber President. “This year’s theme will keep attendees enjoying a great night of fun while also giving businesses the opportunity to network and showcase their business.”
The theme of this year’s chamber auction is Texas Two Step. Co-chairs Mike and Bonney Ramsey encourage all of the attendants to dress in western attire. There will be six real cowboys greeting guests, live western music by the Fox family, an open bar, catering by Applebee’s and “the best spare ribs in Texas with all the vittles,” Bonney said. Attendants are encouraged to try the auction’s signature drink, “The Rattler.”
“There will be lots of enticing items that people will want to bid on,” Bonney said.
“It is the ‘Can’t Miss’ event of the year,” said Neal White, chairman of the Waxahachie Chamber Board of the Directors. “Mike and Bonney have done an outstanding job putting this year’s auction together. It’s going to be fun, entertaining and items in this year’s auction are absolutely phenomenal.”
White said the auction is open to everyone and all proceeds go towards funding chamber programs that help spur economic development and help make our community a better place to live, work and raise our families.
This year’s auction will feature more than $100,000 worth of auction items. Some of the items to bid on this year include two live longhorn steers, various guns, airplane tickets, a hot-air balloon ride, a chaise lounge chair, a Texas Motorplex Suite including tickets to the O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals, a suite at Lumpkins Stadium including fajitas from Campuzano’s, hundreds of other items, and a side of beef to boot.
The chamber is still selling Century Club tickets for a $100 donation to the Chamber. Each ticket has a one in 100 chance of winning one of the three packages at the Rough Creek Lodge and Resort’s 5-star restaurant. The winner can pick one package from the three packages listed on the ticket.
“Come kick up your boots and spurs to enjoy a great evening,” said Mike, who also serves as the chamber’s economic development chair.
Guests will have the opportunity to have a free photograph taken with the cowboys. Photographer Paul O’Rear will take the photographs, which can be downloaded later and printed in any size.
The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce exists to promote the overall economic well-being of the city of Waxahachie through business and community development.
