Two people were transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 77.
According to the investigating officer’s report, the accident occurred at 2:04 p.m. in the 2700 block of N. U.S. Highway 77. A northbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup lost control on the rain-slick roadway, causing it to slide into the southbound lanes, according to the report, which indicates failure to control speed was a contributing factor to the accident.
The pickup, which was driven by Jerry N. Wright, 22, of Red Oak, struck a 1999 Chevrolet Venture driven by Camilla L. Loucks, 60, of Waxahachie, according to the report. Wright, who was ejected from his vehicle and suffered incapacitating injuries, and Loucks, who suffered non-incapacitating injuries, were transported to Dallas-area hospitals by East Texas EMS, according to the report, which indicates an 18-year-old passenger in the pickup was not injured.
No citations were issued.
