McQuay International is recalling Remington and McQuay “ComfortPac” Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps sold nationwide from November 2001 to June 2006.

Wires in the heater element can overheat and spark, posing a smoke and fire hazard.

The recall involves the Remington and McQuay “ComfortPac” Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps commonly installed in hotels, nursing homes and other commercial locations.

These “B” and “B+” vintage electric heat units come in size 12 (12,000 BTU) and size 15 (15,000 BTU). The model numbers included in the recall can be found at www.recalls.org. The recalled units also have the following numbers on the power cord: 105575703 (208/230V) and 105575803 (265V).

Bicycle helmets

Specialized Bicycles is recalling Specialized Bicycle Helmets sold nationwide from July 2007 to October 2007. The helmets fail testing required under safety standard for bicycle helmets. This can pose a head injury hazard to riders in a fall.

This recall involves the Specialized helmets, model 2D. Model “2D” is printed on the sides of the helmet in the rear. The helmets were sold for men and women in matte black, white, silver, blue, pink and team colors.

Consumers should return the helmets to an Authorized Specialized Retailer to receive a free replacement or a full refund.

Gorilla Inc. is recalling Full Body Safety Harnesses sold nationwide from April 2007 to October 2007. The harnesses could fail during use, resulting in a hunter falling from the tree stand and suffering serious injuries or death.

This recall involves the Pullover Style Full Body Safety Harnesses model SP40300 that were included as an accessory with Gorilla 2007 ladder stands.

The harnesses bear batch code numbers 020507, 030507 and 040507. The model and batch code number is printed on the label affixed to the harness.

Honda lawn mowers

American Honda Motor Corp. is recalling Walk-Behind Lawn Mowers sold nationwide from January 2003 to November 2007. The cutting blades could rotate under power when the control lever is released. The lawn mowers do not comply with mandatory federal safety standards for lawn mowers. The spinning blade poses a serious laceration hazard.

The recall involves Honda walk-behind lawn mowers with model numbers HRB217HXA, HRX217HXA and HRX217HMA. The model and serial number are printed on a label located on the upper rear of the mower deck. The lawn mowers are dark gray with a red fan cover.

A defect in the carburetor can prevent the throttle from freely returning to the idle position. This can result in an unexpected loss of control leading to a collision and cause serious injuries or death.

The recall involves Ski-Doo model year 2008 MXZ X 600 RS snowmobiles. The model name is located on the side panels. The snowmobiles were sold in yellow or black/slate.

The cosmetic stuffer bear was designed to hold cosmetics and/or gift cards.

It is a plush bear with a zipper down the body. A “VS” neck medallion serves as the zipper pull. The bear was sold in pink and leopard.
