Celebrating Breastfeeding Month
The local Outreach Health Services office invites every pregnant and breastfeeding mom and their families to join it at a celebration of Texas Breastfeeding Month at 3:15 or 4 p.m. Aug. 4. The office is located at 110 Amanda Lane, Waxahachie. For more information or to RSVP, call 972-937-4777.
The Waxahachie Rotary Club is sponsoring a blood drive through Carter BloodCare from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Waxahachie Civic Center parking lot. All donors will receive a free cholesterol check and a T-shirt. Photo ID is required. The Waxahachie Daily Light will host a blood drive with Carter BloodCare from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be made in advance by calling Rachael Loftis at 469-517-1442.
Free shot clinics
Free immunization shots for babies and for children attending school will be given at 507 N. U.S. Highway 77 from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. Shots will also be given from10 a.m.-noon and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 and from10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the Turner Learning Center, located at 614 Getzandaner.

Walking for Hope
Walking for Hope Clinic of Ellis County will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at the walking trail at Getzendaner Park. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. with a $25 registration fee. A team with 10 members can get a discounted rate of $200.The event will include goodie bags, T-shirts, bounce houses, car show and live entertainment.
