Hospital tours of maternity unit – Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas will hold tours of the maternity unit from noon-1 p.m. Mondays, June 1-29 at the Family Resource Center located in the lobby of Hoblitzelle Hospital, Baylor Dallas, 3500 Gaston Ave. There is no cost for the tours, but reservations for each couple must be made in advance.

Breast feeding class – Baylor Medical Center at Garland will hold a breast feeding class  from 7-9:30 p.m. Monday, June 1 at Baylor Medical Center Garland, Diabetes and Parent Education Center, 900 N. Shiloh Rd., in Garland. 

The prenatal breastfeeding class is designed for women who know they want to breastfeed and desire current information and skills to prepare for a successful breastfeeding experience. 

The class is also recommended for women who are still considering the option to breastfeed and would like current information in order to make an informed decision.

A breastfeeding book is given to every woman enrolled in the class. 

This class meets one time for three hours.This class should be taken in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. The expectant mother’s support person is encouraged to attend.  The class fee is $30 per couple.

Prepared childbirth class – Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine will begin its six-week course of the prepared childbirth class from 7-9 p.m. (with the last class starting at 6:30 p.m. on July 6 ) each Monday beginning June 1-July 6 in conference room A&B.  Prepared childbirth is a complete overview of everything you need to know for pregnancy, delivery, management of the delivery, breathing and relaxation techniques, the initial newborn phase, c-sections, drugs and epidurals, breastfeeding, postpartum, and so much more. A tour is included.The classes are designed to prepare couples for childbirth. The class is $130 per couple.

Prepared childbirth class – Andrews Women’s Hospital at Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth will hold a session of the prepared childbirth class from 6:30-9 p.m. Mondays, June 1-22  in the Faxel conference room at Baylor All Saints, 1400 Eighth Avenue. The class is designed to prepare couples for childbirth and will cover topics such as breathing and relaxation, methods of anesthesia and cesarean childbirth, plus a tour of the maternity ward at Baylor All Saints. The cost is $85 per couple and participants must bring 2 to 3 pillows and a blanket to each session.

Ovarian cancer support group – The Virginia R. Cvetko Patient Education Center will hold an ovarian cancer support group from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, June 1 in the Cvetko Conference Center located on the basement level of the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center, 3535 Worth Street.

Look good, feel better – The Virginia R. Cvetko Patient Education Center will host a session of look good, feel better in collaboration with the American Cancer Society from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, June 1 in the 620 conference room located on the 6th floor of the Collins Building, 3535 Worth Street, Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. This free program teaches techniques for skin care, head wraps, and accessories.

National cancer survivors week – The Virginia R. Cvetko Patient Education Center will host the annual celebration of survivorship during the week of Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5. Join us as we celebrate cancer patients and survivorship. We will provide a variety of programs such as a special look good, feel better program in the infusion areas Monday, informational tab-les, time to talk with a dietician, and giveaways on Tuesday and Wednesday. Stop by Friday as we have an ice cream social and listen to the Texas Winds. There will also be artwork displayed throughout the week in the lobby of the Collins building. The artwork is an expression of what the cancer journey means to patients, their family members, and friends. The artwork is provided by Lilly Oncology from the Oncology on Canvas art contest.

Understanding insurance for weight loss surgery – Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine will hold understanding insurance for weight loss surgery from 6:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3  in conference room A&B. This class will provide key information towards how to obtain insurance approval for weight loss surgery.  We will outline the steps involved in the process. We will also be discussing other options if you do not have insurance coverage. You are encouraged to bring your support person with you and to stay for the physician information session following this presentation. Seating is limited.
