Trail Blazer’s Showcase

The Trail Blazer’s Band and guests will perform live country and gospel music in an effort to raise funds for the Ellis County SPCA.

The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Ellis County Woman’s Building, 407 W. Jefferson St., in Waxahachie.

Guest appearances will be made by Barbara Thomas, Ronnie Caywood and Brandy Miller.

The show is free but donations will be accepted to support the Ellis County SPCA.

Benefit fundraiser

A benefit fundraiser for an Ellis County family faced with medical bills for cancer treatment will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Nay Barn, located off of Farm-to-Market 1446 in Waxahachie. There will be barbecue and a silent auction. Ten 55 Band will play. The community is invited to attend.

Texas Music Theater

Set in historic old downtown Waxahachie, 110 W. Main St., Texas Music Theater will host Texas Music Thursday Nights.

• Sept. 3 – The Tejas Brothers

• Sept. 4 – Billy Ewing and Texas Rose

• Sept. 5 – Bugs Henderson and the Shuffle Kings

• Sept. 10 – Ed Burleson

• Sept. 17 – Dan Roberts

• Oct. 3 – Don Edwards

Shows start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Glenn Heights Family Festival

The Glenn Heights Family Festival will be a three-day event from Sept. 10-12 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the city’s founding.

The first day will take place from 3-10 p.m. in conjunction with Glenn Heights Family Night Out. On Sept. 11, the event activities will run from 3 p.m.-midnight. Firefighters, police, members of the armed forces, paramedics and emergency medical technicians in conjunction with Patriot Day will be recognized. Founder’s Day will be celebrated as part of a citywide celebration from 10 a.m.-midnight Sept. 12. People who helped to found the city and city staff will be recognized in a ceremony.

Each day there will be events for the whole family to participate in that include a rock climbing wall, a traveling educational natural show, a carnival, arts and crafts live music featuring a jazz band and fireworks. Food vendors also will be on site.
