A benefit fundraiser for an Ellis County family faced with medical bills for cancer treatment will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Nay Barn, located off of Farm-to-Market 1446 in Waxahachie. There will be barbecue and a silent auction. Ten 55 Band will play. The community is invited to attend.
Boy Scout barbecue fundraiser
Boy Scout Troop 234 is holding a barbecue benefit to raise funds for troop supplies and camping during the coming year. The meal will be served from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at St. Paul Episcopal Church, located on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 287 and Ovilla Road.
Each order will receive two meats of choice, beans, macaroni and cheese, tea, all of the fixings and homemade desserts.
Tickets are $8 each or two for $15 and are available from Ray Porter at 972-923-2000 or at the event.
The trooper will have its full campsite set up and will serve samples of Dutch oven cooking during the day. Takeout will be available.
“Please help us support Boy Scouts in Waxahachie while enjoying a great dinner,” a spokesman said.
Sims Library offers TexShare classes
Nicholas P. Sims Library will offer a new advanced computer class on the TexShare databases from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 29. This is an advanced level class examining the TexShare databases available at the library. Students must either have completed the beginner and intermediate level computer classes or have equivalent computer experience to register.
Every month, the library offers free computer classes, which are open to registration for anyone who has a library card at the library. Pre-registration is required for the class, which will be held in the reference room on the basement level of the library.
