Foundation of Life Church of Waxahachie celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with a Super Bowl ticket give away.

To accommodate the crowds, the church worshiped in the Sheaffer Full Life Center at Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Sunday, Feb. 6. Dawn Lipsey, administrator for the church, said people dressed in their favorite team shirts in keeping with the theme of the day.

“We had over 500 in attendance Sunday morning for the service and although there were a lot of prizes that were given away, everybody came hoping to win the two tickets to the Super Bowl,” Lipsey said. “David and Robin Hickman, who are in our congregation, were the winners. They are foster parents at the Texas Baptist Home for Children and have six young boys they care for.”

Lipsey noted that David was ill and not able to use the tickets, so the couple sold them to another party.

“It turned out to be a real blessing for them,” she said.

Other prizes offered were in the form of gift baskets and gift certificates for special services including fitness training.

The congregation, which will soon celebrate its fifth anniversary, was founded by Pastor Edwin Lipsey. After planting another congregation earlier, the couple moved to Tennessee and returned to Waxahachie to organize the Foundation of Life Church and purchased the church facilities on the corner of Marvin Avenue and Farley Street.
