Beginning Sept. 27, the Waxahachie Salvation Army, 620 Farley St., will be accepting applications to receive food and toys for Christmas.

The organization began the initiative in the early 1980s in which local companies will adopt a child by taking a card with his or name and provide items for Christmas.

“Last year the Salvation Army provided for 650 families for Christmas,” said Jeremiah Romack, Lt. for the Waxahachie Salvation Army.

Lt. Missy Romack also cited the need for support from the community to make the initiative a success.

“We always use volunteers in the interview process and we are in need of a warehouse to store all the Christmas items and food,” she said.

The Salvation Army is accepting applications. For further information or to volunteer, contact the Salvation Army at 972-937-7727.
