Shakespeare’s famous battle-of-the-sexes farce, “The Ten Things I Love About You,” will be performed by the student drama group, The Navarro College Players, at 7:45 p.m. April 15-16, on the Navarro College Midlothian campus.

The traditional boy meets girl, boy cannot have girl (until older shrewish sister is married), and boy gets girl underscores this timeless commedia dell’arte style, a spokesman said, noting that Midlothian resident playwright, Terence Wilde, has abridged Shakespeare’s original “Taming of the Shrew” into an hourlong and updated version.

“Terence Wilde’s plays are funny and provocative,” said Navarro College professor of English, Dr. Steve Thompson. “He has the uncanny knack of getting to the point while maintaining the theme and his Shakespearean abridgments are easily understood by modern audiences. The drama students here at Navarro should also be commended for their fine work.”

Join The Navarro College Players for an evening of fun, reveling and romance. Tickets are available at the door for $5 per person. For more information, call 972-775-7200.
