The Alvarado Lions Club hosted its annual golf tournament May 8 at Southern Oaks Golf Club and, for the second year in a row, set a record with $5,000 raised. The tournament was played with 28 teams and awards were given for closest to the pin, longest drive and to each of the top three teams. The first place team of Kelly Foster and Matt Preston had a combined score of 64. A tie-breaker was needed to separate the second and third place teams with Eddie Tatum and Chad Perkins taking second, and Jay Stuckey and Jimmy Isclaw placing third. Both teams finished with a score of 66. Stuckey also won the longest drive competition and Dean Barkman won the closest to the pin contest. The Lions Club also auctioned several items, including a GPS unit, a photo printer, a golf bag and Grand Prairie AirHog tickets.
