LANCASTER – Looking to make the community a cleaner, greener, more livable place?

The city of Lancaster encourages its residents to get involved in its 2011 Fall Trash Off event. This year’s event will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1501 N. Dallas Ave., and is open to Lancaster residents only with required proof of residency.

Residents can get rid of bulk trash, recyclables, tires, scrap metal, brush and electronic waste (such as computers, kitchen appliances, televisions, etc.). There will be a minimal charge of $30 for the disposal of televisions and computer monitors depending on their size. Each patron will be allowed to deposit 10 tires for free with a $1 per tire fee for each additional tire.

The 2011 Fall Trash Off is looking for volunteers to help clean up the roadways, parks and creek sides in Lancaster. Those interested in getting involved can contact Jodi Griggs at 972-218-2304.
