The Waxahachie chapter of NAACP will hold its annual Juneteenth in the Park celebration from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Lee Penn Park.

A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and all entries are invited to join in: cars, floats, bikes, horses and other. The parade will begin and end at the park.

Any entrant that wants to be judged will need to pay a $10 registration fee. No fee is required for those just wanting to participate in the parade.

“After the parade, we anticipate a day of food, fun and fellowship in the park,” said chapter president, Betty Square Jefferson.

An estimated 200 people or more are expected to attend the event, with Jefferson saying the chapter is accepting donations to defray expenses.

As a reminder, not all donations to the NAACP are tax-deductible, she said.
