Macy’s Inc. announced this past week the appointment of Ellis County native Marlene Norcross to vice president general manager of Macy’s at The Parks.
The Macy’s at The Parks is located in Arlington and is one of the largest Macy’s stores in the southern region.
“This is a unique opportunity for me because the Macy’s store in the Parks Mall is really a regional store for Waxahachie, so I like the fact that I have the opportunity to see my friends and neighbors that shop here,” Norcross said. “And this opportunity is significant because I have a great opportunity to meet a lot of new people and to grow both personally and professionally.”
Marlene and her husband Wayne are natives of Ellis County – she is from Ennis and he was raised in Forreston.
“We had been away for 14 years and moved back in 2007 and have really become entrenched in Waxahachie, having had our home on the Gingerbread Trail recently and two years ago we had it on the Candelight Tour,” she said, adding they purchased the home on Sycamore that was the Blankenbeckler residence for 70 years. “Wayne serves on the Historic Waxahachie Board.”
Marlene is the former Marlene Belew and daughter of the late Allen and Mary Nell Belew of Ennis. She is a 1979 graduate of Ennis High School and graduated cum laude from Texas Christian University in 1983 with a degree in fashion. She began her career with Neiman Marcus as a buyer and merchandise manager and was later vice president and general manager of Saks Fifth Avenue in Austin and Houston’s Galleria.
Prior to her appointment she was general manager of Macy’s Stone Briar in Frisco and Macy’s at the Hulen Mall in Fort Worth. Norcross was awarded Store Manager of the Year for the Macy’s Fort Worth-Oklahoma district last year.
