ENNIS — David Estes, who serves as vice president of the Ennis ISD board of trustees, has announced he has accepted a new job in McAllen, Texas, and that he will be moving soon from Ennis.
He made the announcement during Tuesday’s called board meeting after trustees reconvened from a closed, executive session.
He expressed his appreciation to the residents of Ennis ISD for allowing him to serve in support of the school district. His fellow trustees thanked him for his service and stated that they would miss the attributes and contributions he brought to the Board.
In other business, the trustees discussed the state budget shortfall, including the current legislative discussion and potential impact of bills in the Texas House and Senate; EISD budget reduction efforts and plans; and activity of the Teacher Advisory Committee.
They also discussed timelines for upcoming board meetings and summer workshops. The board is scheduled to meet the following dates: May 10, May 24, June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9 and Aug. 30.
