Once again the Ellis County Art Association will be filled wall to wall and ceiling to floor with original artwork created though the hard work and talent of Ellis County youth.

Close to 1,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs will be on display.

This is one of the most impressive youth art events in North Texas presented by the Ellis County Art Association.

The competition showcases original art by children residing in Ellis County enrolled in public, private or home school grades K through 12.  In addition to first, second, third, and honorable mention awards at every grade level, two scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors.

Organized in 1958, Ellis County Art Association has been brining “art to life in Ellis County” by presenting art events such as the annual Youth Art Show.

The 501c (3) nonprofit arts organization is supported by membership dues, individual and corporate gifts, grants and proceeds from fundraisers.

“Fine art events for children are essential to cultural environment in every community and if you love art, especially children’s art, you must plan to attend this show,”  said Tom Kramer, chairperson for the exhibit.  “Ellis County Art Association sponsors this annual event in an effort to promote and encourage children’s interest in the fine arts.  Without a doubt, this body of work is one of the best exhibits of creativity and talent you’ll see anywhere; it expressive, creative, direct and uninhibited.”

The exhibition opens with an awards ceremony and reception honoring student and teachers from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, April 8, in the Ellis County Fine Arts Center, 501 West Main Street, Waxahachie.

Continuing April 16, the exhibit is free and open to the public.
