The Ellis County Art Association begins its 2009-2010 gallery season with “The Child in Me,” an art opening featuring new original work created during the spring and summer of 2009.

Free and open to the public, the exhibition features collage, fabric art, miniatures, mosaics, paintings, photography and sculpture.

In addition to the main show, the Anderson Gallery also presents works under 8 inches by 10 inches in the Miniature Gallery, and prints as well as giclees, framed and unframed, in the Print Gallery. The Child in Me” opens with a wine and cheese reception from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Anderson Gallery, which is located in the lower level of the association’s art center, 501 W. Main, Waxahachie.

The public is encouraged not to miss an opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their work with them. The show will hang, with periodic additions to replace sold works, until December.

Jill Parr, association artist-in-residence and Anderson Gallery director said, “If  a city can be measured by the way it supports visual arts and cultural events, then Waxahachie rates a ‘10’ on my scale.”

“Ellis County Art Association maintains a constant presence in the area with a full calendar of arts events, providing the community with an opportunity to meet the artists and open dialog about new work, art classes and future projects,” she said.

Organized in 1958, the Ellis County Art Association is celebrating more than 50 years of bringing “Art to Life in Ellis County.”

The 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization is supported by membership dues, individual and corporate gifts, grants, and proceeds from fundraisers.
