NARFE group to meet Aug. 9

National Active and Retired Federal Employees Ellis-Navarro County chapter 1191 will meet  at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Corsicana at Sirloin Stockade.

A representative from Corsicana Emergency Medical Corps will bring the program.

All active and retired federal employees, spouses and guests are invited to attend.

Midlothian immunization clinic

Caring for Children Foundation of Texas will hold a free immunization clinic from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Midlothian ISD, 100 Walter Stephenson Road.

All recommended and required vaccines will be provided by Texas Vaccine for Children Program (Medicaid CHIP, those who have no insurance or have insurance that does not cover vaccines or well care. Parents should bring all of their children’s immunization records and the child must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

WHS band car wash

The Waxahachie Band will host a car wash from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the parking lot in front of the Waxahachie High School. Car wash is free, donations are accepted to raise funds for the band.

Immunization clinic

Texas Department of State Health Services holds monthly immunization clinics from 1:30-5:30 p.m. every first Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club, 1211 S. Clay in Ennis and from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. every second Tuesday at First Baptist Fellowship Hall, 304 W. 5th St. in Ferris. No clinics on holidays. For information, call 972-932-2038.

The Navarro College Adult Education Program announces its GED Graduation and National Adult Education Honor Society Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, in the Wolens Special Event Center on the Navarro College-Corsicana campus.

Ellis County Christian Homeschool

The Ellis County Christian Homeschool will host an information meeting and school year kickoff party at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Church of Christ, 1503 Country Club Road in Ennis . There will be information tables, two breakout sessions – CO-OP classes and homeschool curriculum – and a question and answer session in an informal gathering. Historic 5K run for REACH

REACH council will host the Historic 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at 109 S. Jackson St. in Waxahachie. Registration is $15 for kids under 12 and $25 for runners or walkers ages 12 and up. A late fee of $5 will be charged those registering on the day of the run. Proceeds from the event provide drug prevention programs for youth. Master Naturalist Classes

Indian Trail Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists will hold classes in disciplines such as geology, entomology and ornithology with related field trips beginning Thursday, Sept. 8. Navarro College Adult Ed Program

The Navarro College Adult Education Program will offer free ESL and GED classes in Ellis County. Classes begin Aug. 22 and end Dec. 16.

ROISD ribbon cutting

Red Oak ISD will have a ribbon cutting and open house for its Red Oak Junior High School campus at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at 154 Louise Ritter Blvd. The event will be held in the cafetorium.
