Waxahachie’s Sunshine Committee is accepting applications for the fourth annual Pre-Christmas Craft Fair. The craft fair will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Waxahachie High School. Historical trunk missing
On the morning of Thursday, Aug. 18, an old Army trunk was removed from the sidewalk on the south side of Midlothian City Hall. The trunk was sitting next to two filing cabinets awaiting pickup by the Midlothian Area Historical Society.
If you mistakenly thought these items were put out as trash and you removed the trunk, would you please return it to City Hall inside the building.

Teen Inc. will make paper boxes to store odds and ends from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Nicholas P. Sims Library. Boxes are constructed from old magazines. The activity is for ages 11-18. Snacks provided.
Friday Book Club to meet
The Friday Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Ellis County Woman’s Building. “This is the first meeting of the new year and all members are urged to attend,” a spokesman said.
WFD blood drive Sept. 9

Carter Blood Center and the Ennis Masonic Lodge No. 369 are teaming together to hold a blood drive.
The blood drive will be held between the hours of 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Ennis Walmart. All donors will receive a T-shirt for their donation.
9/11 Dedication and
Remembrance at Hope Clinic
Hope Clinic will remember those who were tragically killed on 9/11 by dedicating a flag pole in memory of those who fell and those who fought to save them at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, in the clinic courtyard, 411 E. Jefferson St. in Waxahachie.
“Please join us as we honor the past, pray for present first responders and hope for the future of our community and country,” a spokesman said.
NARFE meeting set for Sept. 13
NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) Ellis-Navarro Co. Chapter 1191 will meet Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Ennis at the Grand Ennis Buffet at 11:30 a.m.

Gaming at Sims Library
Nicholas P. Sims Library presents “Gaming at the Library” for ages 11-18 from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 in the library’s meeting room. “Test your skills on Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Come play with old friends or make new ones. You have to experience Wii on the big projection screen. We have ‘Just Dance’,” a spokesman said.
Meals-on-Wheels Golf Benefit
Meals-on-Wheels and its title sponsor, Community Bank, are set for the nonprofit organization’s 24th annual golf benefit, slated for Thursday, Sept. 15, at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson. Registration for the benefit is open and morning and afternoon tee times are still available. Early bird registration, with discounted pricing, ends Aug. 26. As in years passed, golfers can sign up for morning and afternoon flights.
Registration can be done online at www.servingthechildrenofyesterday.org or by contacting the Meals-on-Wheels offices. There will be morning and afternoon shotgun starting at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, with the tournament following a four-player scramble format.
Each player’s entry fee includes green fee, ½ cart, a T-shirt, cold drinks and food throughout the day, plus chances at $5,000 in prizes. This year’s golfer package also includes two mulligans and two chances to win prizes such as sporting event tickets, airfare for two and many more.
Central Baptist Church of Italy is selling a cookbook to raise funds for a new people mover. The book is a three-ring binder featuring recipes from some of the church’s best cooks, past and present.
“We are very excited about the project, I know our congregation will benefit from the people mover, and the community will benefit from the recipes… it’s a win- win, ” Pastor Todd Gray said. “We hope everyone will order a cookbook for themselves and also order several for gifts. We expect delivery before Christmas.”
The price is $17.95 if pre-ordered and prepaid. Books can be shipped out of the area for an additional $4.95. Make checks payable to Central Baptist Church and mail to P.O.
