Nicholas P. Sims Library teens, ages 11-18, will make ice cream sundaes from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. Bring a friend and enjoy the ice cream and play ice cream trivia.

Choctaw trip for Senior Center

Come join the fun, leaving for Choctaw with the Waxahachie Senior Center on Aug. 4. Buses will start loading at the center at 7 a.m. and leave at 7:30 a.m. sharp. Buses will load to return to the center at 2:30 p.m. and leave at 3 p.m. sharp.

Pet Show at Sims Library

Nicholas P. Sims Library will host its annual pet show from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5. Proud pet owners, ages 4-10, have a prize winning opportunity to show off their animal favorites at Sims Library. The show is open to all breeds and species. Categories in this contest include biggest, cutest, friendliest, most talented, scaliest, smallest, strangest and more. Ribbons and a Best in Show ribbon will be awarded to winning contestants. This program is an outside event presented on the front lawn of the library as part of Sims Library’s Texas Reading Club events. Teen summer reading challenge

lock-in at Sims Library

Nicholas P. Sims Library Teen Summer Reading Challenge lock-in will be held from 6 p.m.-midnight Friday, Aug. 5. “Come and see what it’s like in the library when it is closed. We are playing games, watching a movie, hanging out with friends, and eating,” a spokesman said.

Requirements for the Lock-in are reading two books, completing a simple book review for each, and attending three teen activities.

Midlothian immunization clinic

Caring for Children Foundation of Texas will hold a free immunization clinic from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Midlothian ISD, 100 Walter Stephenson Road.

All recommended and required vaccines will be provided by Texas Vaccine for Children Program (Medicaid CHIP, those who have no insurance or have insurance that does not cover vaccines or well care.

Parents should bring all of their children’s immunization records and the child must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Family movie day at Palace Theater

When Are We Going Home Ministry will host a free family movie day for medically challenged, disabled or special needs individuals of any age. The event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Palace Theater, 112 W. 6th Ave. in Corsicana.

The movie, “Breaking Free,” will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Bring your own snacks. The theater will be lighter and less volume to provide a good environment for guests with sensory disorders or autism.

The event is sponsored by the Navarro Community Foundation.

Immunization clinic

Texas Department of State Health Services holds monthly immunization clinics from 1:30-5:30 p.m. every first Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club, 1211 S. Clay in Ennis and from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. every second Tuesday at First Baptist Fellowship Hall, 304 W. 5th St. in Ferris.

No clinics on holidays.
