During springtime, people begin cleaning out garages and storage buildings, and getting ready for a big garage sale.

Help is on the way, because the Waxahachie Daily Light is scheduling a Community Garage Sale, which will be held behind the newspaper’s office building April 9.

“Set up time will be from 7-8 a.m. and the garage sale will be from 8 a.m.-noon,” said Ray Pike, publisher,

Waxahachie Newspapers Inc. “Then tear-down will be from noon-1 p.m.”

A 10-feet by 10-feet booth is $25, which includes advertising and permit, and there will be no other charge or percentage of sales to pay.

“This is an ideal situation, especially for people who live in apartments,” Pike said. “It will be a great time to visit with friends and neighbors, do some spring cleaning and pick up a few dollars.”

The Community Garage Sale is not just for families, but other entities as well.

“Churches can rent a booth and have a fundraiser for charity, raise funds to pay youth tuition to youth camp and even Relay For Life teams or any other nonprofits can use this sale to raise money,” said Rachael Loftis, Daily Light office manager.

Space is expected to go fast and the public is urged to call soon and reserve a booth. Each group must bring its own tables.
