First new member of the year

Congratulations to the first new member of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce for 2009, American General Financial Services. Located at 507 N. Hwy 77, Suite 900, branch manager Bryan Rich was the first business to sign up this year.

“It just goes to show, membership has its privileges. Promotion, marketing, networking, special events and more – the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce is known as the best partner to help grow businesses. More than 700 members would agree,”  a spokesman said.

The Waxahachie Business Interchange is an early morning networking and marketing opportunity that takes place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Hosted by Hasting’s Entertainment, in the Hardback Café at 7:30 a.m., this year’s chair is Robin Lasher, Director of the Small Business Development Center at Navarro College.

The Ambassador program is a way for new members to gain mentors in the existing membership and for existing members to network and market through contact with new members. Ambassadors al-so attend ribbon cutting and ground breaking events, as well as, volunteer at different chamber events. Monthly luncheons are hosted at the Chamber office.

New this year, the Chamber of Commerce will host bi-monthly membership luncheons. “Lunch of Champions” will showcase the newest members of the Chamber and feature a special guest. The first luncheon held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 20, at the Waxahachie Civic Center  will feature David Margulies, a broadcasting veteran specializing in publicity, media relations and more. Part of his vast experience includes serving as Oprah Winfrey’s spoke-sman during the Texas Beef Group trial.

The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau is responsible for many events designed to promote and market Waxahachie, as well as, its businesses. From Bob Phillips’ Texas Country Reporter Festival, Bethlehem Revisited, and the Crape Myrtle Festival to the Lifestyles Home and Family Expo, and the Gingerbread Classic Golf Tournament, the Chamber’s main objective is to increase awareness of the city of Waxahachie and promote its businesses.
