OVILLA – Last week’s cancelled Ovilla blood drive has been rescheduled for 3-7 p.m. today at Ovilla City Hall.

The blood drive is being held in honor of council member Mike Dickey, who was recently in a motorcycle accident and is still in critical condition.

The blood drive will also benefit past council member, Morgan Crow, who has been ill and is also requiring blood.

Resident David Griffin has taken up the cause and is encouraging folks to donate blood on Thursday.

Griffin’s company, Rock-Tech International, issued a challenged late last week to residents, organizations and other companies noting he would match donations of $5 per pint donated.  The proceeds will go to the Ovilla Service League to help in equal parts the city’s Police and Fire Departments

“We have had one anonymous donor so far,” Griffin said, “as well as council member Doug Hunt to accept the challenge. So far that’s $15 per pint donated.”
